Viva Air: Chief Commercial Officer Case Study

In early 2019, Viva Air asked that Venari Partners help source for a new Chief Commercial Officer. The Chief Executive Officer, Felix Antelo, had recently moved into his role from LATAM and was keen on bringing in a new senior commercial leader, someone to help him with the restructure of the airline following the rebrand from Viva Colombia.

The search was made all the more challenging because another executive search firm had previously taken the role to market without successfully identifying the talent Felix sought. Specifically, Felix and the board desired someone capable of driving a low-cost culture and someone capable of innovating the existing commercial strategy.

Typically, when Venari Partners run a search we are able to take the role to market with complete market coverage assured and with a consistent message about the opportunity. When trying to pick through the efforts of another search firm the challenge becomes much harder.

Despite being a challenging search, we are pleased to report that Lisa Pinto was successfully chose for the role. Lisa offer a plethora of experience from small low-cost carriers coupled with experience from large carriers, including Emirates. Lisa and her husband moved to Medellin in Colombia in Q3 2019. Venari Partners are proud members of the 30% club (The 30% Club is a campaign group of Chairs and CEOs taking action to increase gender diversity on boards and senior management teams) and we are proud to say that this is our second Female CCO placement in the South American market.
